Turns all faction banners into something more… wavy

So I’ve been playing nothing but Starsector for the past several months and I’ve been blown away at all the content created by this community. After using Nexerelin, GraphicsLib, MagicLib, LazyLib, various Quality of Life mods and a host of player-made factions, I decided it was time for me to use my 13 years of modding and graphic arts to give back to this wonderful group.

My first project has been turning all of the faction flags into actual wavy flags. I had to take some artistic liberties on a few of them because the ripples don’t work well with dark backgrounds. This led me to remaking all of the player flags as well, in order to keep all of the flags consistent. I then realized that most of us also use player-made factions, so I began remaking all of the ones I use. If that wasn’t enough, I decided to begin making some of my own custom flags for the player to choose also.

Installation: Just drag and drop the folder into your mods folder like normal, however, if you want to add a player-made faction into your game, you will need to manually drag and drop it into your game folder and overwrite it. I kept the file location identical to the mod’s .PNG location. If you know of a way to automatically overwrite another mod’s files, let me know. Let me know in this thread if you have issues.

Note: This mod is a work in progress, so if you use a player-made faction that I haven’t “rippled”, ask for it in this thread and I’ll add it to a future update. If for some reason you don’t want your player-made faction flag bundled in this mod, PM me and I will remove it.

Those look really cool! I appreciate that each has their own custom waves as well, it looks like a lot of care went into making them.
Thanks for the kind words. I got my money’s worth out of Photoshop, that’s for sure, lol. I’ve spent the past 2 weeks hand drawing each flag instead of playing Starsector, ready to start playing again.  ;D
I’m okay with this, although I really wish you’d asked first – but I can’t help but be disappointed it’s not a cool waving animation overlay instead of just a bunch of modified art assets.

Cloth Roider Union flag feels wrong; if Roiders did a flying banner I’d expect it to be a holographic projection.

Nah, it’s fine – it’s not a big deal. I do think an overlay (even a static one) would be a good idea, though, and allow your mod to work with any- and everything loaded.
Check out the in-game screenshot, the new flags look really good in the game I think.
